Rutile quartz, also known as Meta Quartz, is most typically found in rock formations termed eclogite, although it also can be found in rock formations as kimberlites and sedimentary rocks on its own. Igneous rutile quartz has shorter needles than metamorphic rutile quartz. It was also known as Venus’s hair stone because of its fine gold hairs. Rutilated Quartz with golden threads is the most well-known, although there are other varieties as well. Other than golden, there is silver, black, red, green, and blue.
