Aragonite is a kind of carbonate mineral which occurs naturally within mollusk shells. In some mollusks, the entire shell is aragonite and in others aragonite forms only discrete parts of a bimineralic shell (aragonite plus calcite).Usually, this carbonate mineral is very soft so needs to be handled with care.
It is one of the three most common naturally occurring crystal forms of calcium carbonate with the other forms being the minerals calcite and vaterite). It comes in a variety of forms, perhaps the best known is the small red “Sputnik” variety like these crystals.
Aragonite metaphysical properties include:
– Strongly grounding and stabilising
– Encourages recycling and conservation
– Helps to clear blockages and recognise reality
– Helps to diffuse tension
– Boosts courage
