• Tanzanite is a blue-violet variety of the mineral zoisite and forms prismatic, striated crystals with colour ranges from blue to blue-violet. It is named after Tanzania, where it was discovered. These crystals have a form known as Pleochorism which means different direction of light produces colour changes within the stone from violet blue to purple.
