These specimens are in their natural raw form and shedding of small crystals is normal. Natural inclusions, cracks and pockets are all visible and all part of the natural stone. Please handle with extra care. These are very fragile stones.
Fire Agate is a variety of Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family. It has a translucent deep reddish-brown base, with flashes of orange and red. The colours occur as a result of light interference interacting with limonite crystals and iron oxide. Some say that the colour of the stone resembles the intense heat of the area it is found.
These stones can be polished and used for Jewellery purposes, however, it is advised to use diamond polishing tools as they are both known as hard stones. When you begin to see the fire layer you need to be gentle, going too far into it will ruin the fire agate stone.
