Creedite is named after the origin it is found, Creede in Colorado, USA.
It is a rare hydroxylhalide mineral that forms from the oxidation of fluorite ore deposits and can be found in orange, purple, white and even colourless formations.
The orange varieties are easily recognizable due to their clustered hedgehog-like spikes and are said to be the purest of the Creedite varieties.
