Blue John is a rare form of Fluorite only found in Castleton, UK. This stone is becoming very rare and hard to source making it a collector’s piece. It is also known as the ‘Derbyshire Spar’ and is known for its bands of colour different colours of purple-blue and creamy yellow. The name ‘Blue John’ is derived from the French bleu-jaune which indicates blue and yellow.
