Malachite is often used as an ore of copper. It has an opaque transparency and sometimes has a patterned surface. Malachite is a rich shade of green.
Malachite which we commonly see today often has bands or stripes of dark and light green. It can be polished into small tumble stones, but you also get something called “velvet malachite,” which features tiny needle like formations and crystallization which is rare to find.
