These specimens are in their natural raw form and shedding of small crystals is normal. Natural inclusions, cracks and pockets are all visible and all part of the natural stone. Please handle with extra care. These are very fragile stones.

Moldavite is very similar to most other glasses. It can appear translucent or transparent with swirls and bubbles inside that highlight the generally mossy green hue. It is thought to have formed in the heat of an asteroid impact.

All our genuine hand selected Moldavite specimens have a range of beautiful green colouring and textures. Some have a glassy finish and some have a velvety finish. There is a beautiful and massive range of variety in the surface texture of this rare material, each piece is unique and has its own individual look.

Each individual specimen has its own unique shape and pattern. Some may have slight abrasion marks due to the mining process and others may have been sliced from the cutting process.

Unfortunately the Moldavite market has changed drastically – becoming scarce in quality and quantity. The industry has questions of what it means for the future of its availability. The mining operations in the Moldavite fields of Czech Republic have slowed due to government intervention and pandemic restrictions but these are genuine specimens.
